Author Janet S. Dumas draws the reader into the world of rescued cats in her book, Blessings from My Cats after her visceral reaction to a chilling San Antonio newspaper expose about thousands of animals being gassed to death each year
takes the reader through the myriad of emotions the author experienced when caring for the cats-from unmitigated joy to the depths of sorrow and a level of compassion that she never knew existed within her. “How is it possible to fall in love with an animal I can never touch, pet, cuddle or kiss,” asks Dumas.
“Blessings from My Cats” is a collection of short stories about the rescued cats that share her home and the feral cats that depend on her in the wild. The author entertains cat lovers while educating about the benefits of spay/neuter and the perils of outdoor cats.
Dumas has been a cat owner for 43 years and a San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition volunteer for 15 years. As a feral cat colony caretaker, the author came to understand the individual cats, and the relationships they built together.
