About Laura Aten: Laura L. Aten is a writer and a high school English teacher. A long-time resident of San Antonio, Texas, Laura enjoys sharing her love of language with her students and friends. She also shares a passion for reading and writing with her daughter, Kate, who illustrated their recently published Round and Round and Back Again: Jacob and Olivia's Adventure Down Under. Kate, a graduate of Millsaps College in Jackson Mississippi, is currently completing her Master's of Art in Teaching (MAT) at Trinity University in secondary English/Language Arts/Reading.
The mother-daughter duo were inspired by trips to Australia and the Zootennial Carousel featured at the SA Zoo. Their children's book features a pair of cousins who learn about a blue fairy penguin and a wise sea turtle who have something to teach them about grit. This is Laura's second publication. Her first work, Not at Peace with this Unfolding, was published in 2013. Both books are published by Black Rose Writing.
About ‘Round and ‘Round and Back Again: Just when Jacob's annual summer visit with his cousin Olivia is almost over, the pair discover the San Antonio Zoo. As the sun begins to set, they find that the Zootennial Carousel has closed for the evening. However, with a little imagination and the help of a friendly ride operator, the two are transported on a thrilling adventure Down Under. There they gain the friendship of a Fairy Penguin and a wise Sea Turtle who have something to teach them about overcoming obstacles.
