Mike Middlebrooks, Mattie the Madagascar Hissing Cockroach: In the Face of Danger (The Mattie Series)

Mike Middlebrooks earned his Master's Degree in Elementary Education in 1997, and taught 2nd/3rd grade at Encino Park Elementary School in San Antonio.

As a teacher, Mike introduced Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches, one named Mattie, rats, scorpions, millipedes, butterflies, ants and many more cool creatures. Most of his book inspirations came from the 'creatures' in his classroom.

About Mattie the Madagascar Hissing Cockroach: In the Face of Danger (The Mattie Series):
In the Face of Danger Mattie is no ordinary cockroach: she is descended from the proud line of Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches. Through her father's belief in Mattie, she will be tested as no other Madagascar Hissing Cockroach has ever been tested. Will Mattie simply hop away like Bucky and Brucey the bullfrogs do, when threatened, or hide in the mud like Wallace the worm does when scared or threatened? Mattie's family of 1000 Madagascar Hissers are relying on her to be brave when a green, slithery snake approaches their decaying log which they call home. Will Mattie be brave when she is terrified and scared, in the face of danger?
